    Default Vegetation killer

Hopefully some of you guys can help me out with this dilemma.

I have a well in my back-yard right near my pool. I have poison ivy and other grasses I want to get rid of to plant new grass and fill it in some more...

I dont want to spray ortho groundclear because id spray my well and it would be in my water. Is there any organic vegatation killer that I can use to get rid of all this?

    Thanks

Are you planning to soak the ground and then some? I would think that spraying just enough to kill the vegetation (mist) would pose little threat to soaking into your well water. How deep is your well? Mine draws water from nearly 300'. It's solid casing most of the way down, so with the way mine is set up, it would be very difficult to get a small amount of chemical to travel that far in strong enough concentration to pose a health threat.

    My opinion..... others?

Also, if you're still nervous about the spray- I would think you could cut out what is there- not sure on how poison ivy spreads, though- if digging would get it.

True, I kindof thought that it might have trouble going that deep, but didnt want to be showering with total vegitation killer lol.

Mine draws from 300 feet as well, only reason I know that is because well pump just got replaced.

ditto pinecrest; spray foliage and not the soil; paint it on if necessary.

If you want to be totally safe, you can kill everything by covering the entire area with black plastic. It takes a few weeks, but it is effective and leaves no chemicals. Glyphosate (Round Up) is pretty safe though and generally breaks down in soil.

Get a product with Triclopyr and cut and squirt the end going into the ground. this should not leave hardly any chemicals around to shower in. Your local Ewing store my have the product.
