A phone call to the mayor, and 30 minutes later the fire department showed up to help water in the newly planted area.
The reason for replanting was because the irrigation system doesn't reach the sidelines, and it didn't get watered enough. We had only one rain on it 3 weeks after planting.
We got it watered very well yesterday with the help of the fire department, and again last night with a good rain. Which is our second rain event since planting 30 days ago.
Good basic hard work + a positive attitude = success.
Three important things stood out in this thread. I mean besides the great green results.

#1- By paying attention to your original concern about the inadequate irrigation system as well as the lack of water getting to the sidelines and acting on those concerns ...in time.
(using your brains & going straight to the mayor in order to get the water you needed)
Instead of sitting around worrying and praying for rain...you listened to your instincts..and .you saved the day on this job Nicky!
Well done...sure looked a little shaky there for awhile in a couple of those pics and looked like you were sprigging dry.

#2- When one method wasn't working, and you realized that it wasn't, you did not hesitate to switch to a different method to get that phase of the job done. Way to make it happen!!

    A note on this:
The kind of mindset that says "I am gonna MAKE this work cuz I planned on it working and so I'm going to keep at it until it does work come hell or high water"" is the kind of mindset that screws people up...they will stubbornly stick to their original plan, refusing to quickly face the fact that what they are doing is just not working...and they will beat their heads against the wall until the job becomes unproductive.
Simply because they are not flexible enough with themselves, not understanding enough of themselves to admit that they might be wrong this time and take action to try other things until they find one that works.

#3- You maintained a positive attitude throughout. Even when you had a hard time clearing, tilling that dead stuff, even when the harley rake didn't make a dent, even when the guy left the irrigation system on, making a mudhole out of the field, even when all the nutsedge wouldn't give, even when you broke a few sprinkler heads and even when those sprigs looked big time dead...you found life in them, you kept your wits about you. You kept yourself encouraged. You did not allow negative thoughts of possible horrific failure to screw you up.

THAT's a gift right there and that's why you were successful on this job and are successful at pretty much everything you put your hand to.
HOWeVer..you are wize enough that if your not gonna be successful at something..you recognize that and get the heck back out of it before you lose your shirt.
(Your sensible wife probably had a lot to do with embedding that wisdom in you lol)

Was this post too long? If so then just go ahead and file a complaint to one of the owners... Nicky.
    By The Way... nice job!

Well Nicky I was setting you up as a good example is all. I am of the belief that it's not just the actual physical doing of the work, that makes a job well done..but also the way a person THINKS and feels about their work that makes a job well done. You don't have to understand that guys. It's ok.
