First Job Of The 2010 Season

I am going to make this front porch.....



Look like a combination of these 2...





I will be duplicating the posts on pic #1. I will be doing the skirting as in pic#2.

I will be replacing stair treads and installing with treads that have an overhang and then install railings up both sides.

At finish, the posts, railings, spindles, and ceiling will be white. The flooring and skirting will be a dark color.

I came back to the office to sell her a new ceiling.

I was going to replace the part that was shot, but as I go I know it is best to replace the whole ceiling.



So since I am at the office, waiting for her call, I will show you where I have gotten this morning.







looks better already!!





I am not waiting on her any longer, I am going to tear it down!!

How's her grass doing?

I hope so too. I know her a little bit, I think she will be all for it. Its the right thing to do, in my professional opinion!!!


I am planting grass as soon as weather breaks, a couple three weeks.

it will be under $200 in materials is all, and not a whole lot longer to do.

there are a few good reasons for this though.

First whoever replacing the roofing over that porch, just let the old slat roof sheathing fall to ceiling top. I noticed that the ceiling was waved but tight. This is bound to cause a problem in the future. Next this is old ceiling and I am having trouble matching. I can get the same beading, but the thickness is different.

well I pulled out all the ceiling. Got it all cleaned and ready. That was some old dirty dirt, not much fun.



and then started replacing.

With that framing, its no wonder you could see the ceiling droop... yikes!

Will there be any light cans up there? To highlight the beautiful new porch?

no cans, just a ceiling light, centered on the door

here is a picture of what of the skirting panels I built in the shop, then installed on site. This one was heavy, and a bit of a challenge getting it into place.



So here are the pics of the finished skirting.

Looks really good. When its all done and painted all one color it is really going to look special.

The one end is hinged for future access to the underneath side.
